Butch the Bluejay.

My sister-in-law and I are working on a children's book together, she is writing it, since it is based on memories from her childhood, and I am illustrating it. It's about a little bluejay that her brother rescued from a trash can when it was a couple of days old. I'm not sure where the rabbit and crab came from, that's what happens when you start drawing and painting, characters start to show up.

Exactly, being in the process magnifies the chances for inspiration.

Hey Kath, These (and everything else on your page) looks great. I'm finally checking out a few webpages today. Need a break from my own editing.

Before I read your text I thought "you should illustrate a children's book". Then I read your text. So glad. Love. It.

Hey Kathy! I did the same thing that Patricia did! I thought Whoa! She is illustrating now?? I see a similar thread in the large painting you're working on. Keep it up, friend! It's good to have a few pots going on the stove isn't it?
